NASSCOM is India’s National Association of Software and Service Companies, the premier trade body and the chamber of commerce of the IT software and services industry in India. 20-member of Indian IT and ITeS companies visited Pakistan between December 15th and 18th, 2004. The delegation was headed by Mr. Jerry Rao, Chairman of Nasscom and Mr. Kiran Karnik, President of Nasscom. Amongst the companies that were represented in the delegation were Wipro Infotech, Infosys Foundation, Tata Consulting and Mindtree Consulting. The Indian executives met with their Pakistani counterparts in Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad.
The highlight of the visit was the first Pakistan-India ICT Summit in Islamabad on 16th December, 2004. It was presided over by Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication Mr. Awais Ahmed Khan Leghari. At the end of the inaugural session a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between P@SHA and NASSCOM to increase trade and cooperation in the IT sector. The summit featured keynote presentations, case studies and discussions from leading speakers from India and Pakistan.

Si3 hosted NASSCOM delegation on their first trip to Pakistan this winter. Governor State Bank of Pakistan, Dr. Ishrat Hussain, addressed the gathering at a grand dinner hosted by Si3. He lauded NASSCOM’s pivotal role in facilitating business and trade in software and services, encouraging advancement of research in software technology.
